The short answer

To set a reminder, open the TV guide, select a programme that has not started yet and tap “Remind me”. Shortly before the programme starts, Tunvio shows a notice with the channel and the title. Tap “Switch” in the notice to go to the channel.

What you need

  • A playlist with guide data. See how to use the TV guide.
  • A programme that has not started yet. For a running or finished programme, the button “Remind me” does not appear.

Set a reminder

  1. Open the TV guide and find the programme. You can also find it in the search, on the tab “Programs”.
  2. Select the programme (tap it, or press OK on a remote). The details open.
  3. Tap “Remind me”. Tunvio confirms with “Reminder set”, and the button now reads “Reminder on ✓”.
  4. The first time, your device may ask for permission to send notifications. Allow it if you want reminders while Tunvio is closed.

What happens at the start time

  • While Tunvio is open, a notice appears over the screen, also over the player: “Soon on {channel}: {title}”. It has two buttons, “Switch” and “Later”.
  • “Switch” opens the channel. “Later” hides the notice until the programme starts. When the programme has started, the notice reads “Now on {channel}: {title}” and stays for up to 10 minutes after the start.
  • With a remote on a TV, the notice takes the focus once. Press the Back button to choose “Later”.
  • When Tunvio is closed or in the background, a system notification with the same text appears. Its second line reads “Tap to switch”. Tap it to open the channel. In the system settings of Android, its channel is called “Reminders”. This works on Android phones and tablets, on iPhone and iPad, on macOS and on Windows.
  • On TV devices (such as Android TV and Samsung TV) and on Linux, you get the notice inside the app only. Tunvio has to be open.

Change the lead time

Open Settings → “Content”. In the section “TV guide”, tap “Remind me before” and choose “At the start”, “2 min before”, “5 min before”, “10 min before” or “15 min before”. Changing the lead time is part of Premium and shows a lock symbol if it is not in your plan.

See and remove your reminders

  1. Open Settings → “Content”.
  2. In the section “TV guide”, tap “Program reminders”. The list shows the programme, the channel and the time.
  3. Tap the bell button “Remove reminder” next to a reminder to delete it. The list offers “Undo” for a short time.

You can also open the programme again in the TV guide and tap “Reminder on ✓”. The app confirms with “Reminder removed”. A reminder disappears by itself when the programme is over.

If it does not work

  • No notification when Tunvio is closed. Allow notifications for Tunvio in the system settings of your device. Tunvio asks only once. On Android TV, Samsung TV and Linux there are no system notifications, only the notice inside the app.
  • The notification comes a little late (Android). If the system does not allow exact alarms, Android may deliver it with a small delay.
  • “Remind me” shows a lock symbol. You already have an active reminder, and a second one is part of Premium. Remove the first one or look at what is included in your plan.
  • “This channel isn't available right now.” Tunvio cannot find the channel of the reminder in the active playlist. Check that you use the same playlist as when you set the reminder and that the channel is still in it.
  • The reminder comes at the wrong time. The reminder follows the times of the TV guide. If the guide runs early or late, correct it with “Time shift” under “TV guide sources”, see how to use the TV guide.
