The short answer

To watch a programme that has already aired, long-press the channel and choose “Catch-up”, then pick the day and the programme. In the TV guide you can also select a finished programme that has a catch-up mark. This works only for channels where your provider keeps an archive.

What you need

  • A channel with an archive. Your provider decides which channels have one and for how many days. Tunvio shows the catch-up entries only on channels that have an archive.
  • An Xtream Codes playlist, or an M3U URL playlist that contains catch-up details. A Stalker Portal playlist has no catch-up in Tunvio.
  • Guide data makes the list easier to read, because the programmes then carry their titles. See how to use the TV guide.

Watch a past programme from the channel list

  1. Open “Live TV” and a category.
  2. Tap the small clock icon at the right of a channel. On a remote, hold OK on the channel and choose “Catch-up”.
  3. The sheet “Catch-up” opens. Choose a day: “Today”, “Yesterday” or an earlier day.
  4. Select a programme. The newest programmes are at the top.

The entry “Live now — from the start” at the top plays the running programme from its beginning. If the guide has no data for a time, the list shows blocks such as “Catch-up without program data 20:00 – 21:00”. If a day has nothing, the sheet reads “Nothing in the catch-up for this day”.

Watch a past programme from the TV guide

  1. Open the TV guide. See how to use the TV guide.
  2. Look for a finished programme with the small catch-up mark.
  3. Select it to play it. Or long-press it and choose “Watch (catch-up)”. The button “This channel's catch-up” opens the sheet of the channel.

Start the running programme from the beginning

While a channel plays, open the player controls and tap “From the start”. The button appears when the running programme began inside the archive. In the TV guide, the details of a running programme offer the same action.

Use the player during catch-up

  • The title line starts with “Catch-up”.
  • Move within the programme with the seek bar. When the programme ends, the next one starts by itself.
  • Tap “Go live” to return to the live picture.
  • When catch-up reaches the present, Tunvio switches to live and shows “Caught up — back to live”.
  • Tap “Catch-up” in the player controls to choose another programme of the channel.

On a remote, hold the left arrow (or press the rewind key) while a live channel with an archive plays. Tunvio then jumps back about 30 seconds.

Pause and rewind live TV

Live TV can also be paused and rewound without a provider archive. This keeps the stream in the memory of your device. Pausing and rewinding is a Premium function. In the app you see whether it is included in your plan.

  1. Play a live channel and tap the pause button. The picture stops.
  2. Rewind with the seek bar. It shows how far you are behind live, for example “−12:30”, and “Live” at the right end.
  3. Tap “Go live” or move the bar to the right end to return.

How far back you can go depends on the memory of your device and on the quality of the stream, usually a few minutes. It works with the “Standard player” and not on Samsung TV. Without it, pause freezes the picture as before.

If it does not work

  • There is no “Catch-up” entry and no clock icon. Your provider offers no archive for this channel. Tunvio cannot add one.
  • “Catch-up isn't available for this program”. Tunvio could not build an archive address from the catch-up details of the channel. Try another channel.
  • Catch-up does not start while you cast. Catch-up does not work with casting. Stop casting first.
  • A programme does not play or the picture stays black. Try another programme of the same channel. If none plays, ask your provider whether the archive of this channel works.
  • The programme starts at the wrong time. If the guide runs early or late, correct it with “Time shift” on the page “TV guide sources”. You find it in Settings → “Content”, section “TV guide”. See how to use the TV guide.
  • The player shows “All connections in use”. A catch-up stream counts like normal viewing for your provider. Stop playback on your other devices.
  • On Samsung TV, jumping in a programme takes longer. The app opens the stream again for each jump.
